Improvement in the accesses to the Long Beach

The mayor of Salou visits the works on Llarga beach

Salou. Costa Dorada. 27 September 2020.
The Salou City Council will improve access to the Llarga beach, in the western area, taking advantage of the protection works being carried out by the Ministry of Ecological Transition at the request of the Council itself. This work consists of the construction of a stone breakwater that minimizes the impact that the rainwater has on the beach that is channeled through this point from Cap de Salou.

With an investment of 40,000 euros, the Salou City Council will clean the rocks and the work stairs that give access to the beach to reveal the natural rock. A part of the wall will also be removed from the mountainous area to minimize its current impact. The objective is to recover the most natural aspect of the area and is to facilitate access by visitors and bathers. For this reason, the current railings will be modernized and a new access with a wooden walkway will be created, above the new breakwater and the storm drain.

These actions are in addition to those already carried out by the City Council in the Llenguadets cove and in the Llarga beach itself with the aim of regenerating the area and rebuilding a dune, respectively, after the impact of the Gloria storm last January in these two areas. These actions had a cost of 150,000 euros.
