When is the Coso Blanco in 2022?

Salou. Costa Dorada. 12 January 2022. When is the Coso Blanco celebrated this year 2022? This question so frequent among residents and visitors of Salou has a logical but sad answer. An overwhelming majority of the 24 collas or groups that participate in the Coso Blanco each year have decided to suspend the party in 2022, and not celebrate the confetti war for the second consecutive year.

The current situation of the pandemic, with the expansion of the contagions of the omicron variant, have advised most of the collas to decide not to hold the Coso Blanco in 2022, in a meeting in which the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, and technicians from the City Council.

In 2021 the Coso Blanco was not held either due to the high incidence of the pandemic at that time, and it is already 2 consecutive years that the party has been postponed due to the health crisis that has affected the entire country since March 2020.

The Coso Blanco is one of the most original and emblematic recreational and festive events in Salou, and is part of the cycle of the main festival that is celebrated in Salou at the end of January and the beginning of February.

This festive battle has been celebrated for more than 40 years, in which tons of confetti are fired as 24 floats and costumed troupes pass by to the sound of current music and with a marvelous light and sound show.

The mayor has announced that, although the Coso Blanco is not held, other acts of the festival will be held that, in compliance with health regulations and restrictions, can be carried out with maximum security for the participating citizens.
