Tarragona. Costa Dorada. The Environment Unit of the Municipal Assistance Service of Tarragona manages an annual contribution of 90,200 euros for each of the parks of the province: the Ebro Delta, the Ports and Montsant. The proposed activities for 2010 includes several areas: the preservation and improvement of infrastructure, management of environmental and educational facilities for public use, forest fire prevention, management of natural and cultural heritage and communication and outreach. Moreover, investment in 2009 for the Provincial parks also was 270,600 euros, which was allocated to similar activities. Please note that the location and characteristics of different parks affect the type of activity carried out. First, the nature of most recent constitution of the Montsant is what has diversified its activities. 30% of investment in 2009 was devoted to the preservation of infrastructure, such as improving walkways and bridges. For preventive actions against forest fires has been allocated 27% of the total invested, with the creation of strong protection strips suitability of the forest tracks. Other actions have also been made in managing the environment, as the follow-up study of animal hunting, and one of the activities is included in the action plan Agenda 21 Montsant on improving the habitat of the Bonelli's eagle. Secondly, in 2009, the natural park of Transportation has invested in conservation activities and improvement of infrastructure, 35% of the aid granted by the Council. A similar percentage of the investment has been allocated to the management of environmental and educational facilities for public use, and purchase of audiovisual equipment, and the rest was spent on activities relating to communication and outreach, such as publishing material on the local culture and the dissemination of peoples in the area of natural park. Thirdly, the nature of the Ebro Delta is designed for the construction of new infrastructures and technical writing projects, 50% of the investment received last year. The other actions are related to the management of the environment, such as captive breeding in the pond turtle, procurement technical adequacy of facilities for public use. Through contributions to this important line of natural parks, Tarragona Province declares its commitment to environmental protection, sustainable use of natural areas and promotion of towns included in these protected areas.
