COS 09 explores the diversity and the physical gestual theater on 21-25 october

Reus. Costa Dorada. Reus hosts the twelfth edition of the International Festival of mime and physical theater COS 09 from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 October 2009. During these five days, the theaters of the city will see more than twenty shows of physical theater companies, with diverse styles and backgrounds.   Good example of this diversity is the presence of renowned international companies throughout Europe, as the Romanian Passe Partout, which reaches Reus with a montage of physical theater based on a very refined, yet very realistic, or the company Mimirichi, Ukraine, which bets on the clown and physical theater. The Akhe, Russia, is a company recognized by the mixture of art and performance with physical and gestural theater and, continuing with the common denominator of diversity, the Municipal Theater of Israel Tiberias bets on the mime and pantomime.   Companies of Italy, France or the United States are also present in the program. Catalan companies are also players in the program COS09. Thus, we find the artist and artistic director Joan Baixas, popular for his collaboration with Joan Miró, Antonio Saura and Lluís Pasqual, the company Ens de nos; Katraska and Co. or the Natural reusenques Clown Killers and Teatrapart, they debut with their performances in the festival.   CAER's premiere The festival program includes the first production of the CAER-Performing Arts Center physical and gestural theater from Reus. This is Petit Ball, from Balearic company Au Ments that the CAER co-produced with the same company and with the Foundation Teatre Principal de Palma. Thus begins the 2009/10 season-house productions of Reus Performing Arts Center. The COS09 wants to claim its work in training and dissemination of physical and gestural theater. It is known the intense relationship between the festival and Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, which is present with the participation of their students and teachers in all editions of the festival. In this line stands the training workshop, which this year is provided by Marcel Marceau´s student Elena Serra. Without doubt one of the highlights of the XII edition of the COS is Pawel Rouba exposure. The exhibition, curated by Jordi Vilà Zapata, is a compilation of images and materials that reflect diverse and demanding the important contribution of the generations of Catalans players that were formed in his teaching. The Polish Pawel Rouba, one of the most important teachers of mime and pantomime reached Barcelona in the mid-70s and taught at the Institute of Theater for many years. Rouba, who inaugurated the first edition of the festival COS, died in 2007.
