The Tourist Board joins the solidarity actions to contain COVID 19

Salou. Costa Dorada. 03 April 2020. Since confinement was decreed to stop COVID 19, the Salou Tourism Board has stopped its promotional activity and has refocused its actions to help the most disadvantaged groups in the municipality. Specifically, it has carried out the following actions:
  • donation to Caritas of the food planned for the tasting that was contemplated at the Moscow tourism fair (MITT)
  • transfer of the van from the Board of Trustees and a driver to the Department of Social Welfare, in order to distribute essential products to the vulnerable population with reduced mobility
  • referral of press subscriptions to the nursing home
  • prevention material, such as hygienic gloves, which the Board of Trustees had at its headquarters, has also been transferred to the Department of Social Welfare
On these actions, the mayor and president of the Municipal Tourist Board, Pere Granados, explained that "we have focused our efforts, from the entity, to collaborate actively in solidarity initiatives to improve the well-being of people."

In this sense, it must also be said that several companies related to the tourism sector have contributed significant donations to alleviate the effects of the health and social crisis caused by COVID 19.

For his part, the manager of the Tourist Board, Marc Espasa, said that "from the Board we have tried to take advantage of all our resources in order to mitigate the effects of the social emergency." According to him, "it has been a great team work and collaboration, also, with the Department of Social Services; and we continue working so that the contribution can help the maximum number of people."

On the other hand, within the entity's own promotional activity, different actions have been undertaken, such as updating the tourist information service in the virtual format, with the incorporation of new tools and resources. Initiatives focused on family leisure have been made available to the general public through social networks, without neglecting the promotion of the municipality, such as: "Salouense culture" games; virtual puzzles of places in Salou; coloring pages with emblematic elements of Salou; promotion of visits to the municipality from home, through the dissemination of 360º images; live webcams; disclosure of the tourist history of Salou, through the blog; and #saloufromhome photography contest, supporting the idea of ​​#joemquedoacasa, without losing the tourist promotion.
