Salou asks to repeal the spending rule and reorient the tourism strategy

Moment of the video conference

Salou. Costa Dorada. 04 April 2020.
In a videoconference with the Secretary of State for Tourism, the state company for innovation in tourism technologies, Seggittur, and different tourist destinations throughout Spain, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has called for "the repeal of the spending rule and the adaptation of the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) program to the new situation, and to the new and different preferences of tourists. "

The spending rule is a state mechanism to avoid the deficit of local entities, especially in terms of current spending and its adequate financing without going to extra-ordinary income that is not sustained over time.

According to the mayor of the capital of the Costa Dorada, it is necessary "now more than ever, to coordinate efforts to reorient the tourist and promotional campaigns, since the new social situation presents us with new challenges". Therefore, "we have to work to rethink new strategies, in every way, and we have to do it hand in hand with all administrations, "he assured.

It should be remembered that Salou obtained a 2 million euro grant from Seggittur to become a Smart Tourist Destination (DTI), a project that should be developed, in principle, this year.
