Orange Company commits with Salou with an investment of 4.5 million euros in fiber and 4G

Technicians have been working for months in the streets of Salou.

Montserrat Cereza, territorial director of Institutional Relations of the Orange telephone operator, has informed the consistory about the important investment her company plans to make in telecommunications infrastructure in Salou. The projects, both in optical fiber, as in 4G mobile and fixed telephony FTTH add up to a total of 4.5 million euros.

The delegate councillor of General Services, Quality and New Technologies of the City of Salou, Jesús Barragán, joined by the head of the Information Systems Section, Jesús Redón, have gladly received the information of a project valued in 2.7 million euros for the deployment of optical fiber, by which more than 16,300 homes and businesses in Salou are already connected with this technology. This means that approximately 50% of Salou's main homes already have access to the most advanced communication systems in the market.

The company has shown its willingness to continue the development of this optical fiber network in new areas within the municipality in 2018. Installation permissions by the communities of owners and administrators is a key factor to accomplish this purpose. To this end, technicians of Orange will continue visiting neighbours and communities to inform them of all the advantages of the installation of the optical fiber, which is free and does not imply any commitment to contract services. In addition, the company guarantees they will carry on developing with the least possible inconvenience for the people of Salou.

Speed in mobile browsing

In addition to the mentioned investment in optical fiber, Orange will allocate 1.8 million euros for 4G mobile services in Salou. This will allow you to enjoy the maximum speed in mobile data transfer.
During the meeting, the delegate councillor of General Services, Quality and New Technologies of the City of Salou, Jesus Barragán, stressed that "the benefits of projects like the one by Orange give citizens of our municipality, as well as the economic development of the entrepreneurs in the area, the opportunity to have all the advantages of communication networks with the most advanced fixed and mobile technologies in the market ". Barragán has also asked the company to expand the fiber extension in Cap Salou, Covamar and the rest of the developments in order to cover the majority of citizens.

Improvements for tourists

Councilman Barragán also assured full collaboration from the City to Orange for the next start-up of small cells on the Paseo Marítimo, in order to optimize the mobile user experience, especially in tourist seasons, as well as to prepare the network for the next mobile generation.
The representative of Orange thanked the City Council for the support and easiness in the process, as well as the good coordination that is being maintained with the technicians of the consistory to successfully develop the project with the least inconvenience for the neighbours. He also expressed his satisfaction for the involvement of the City Council in informing citizens of the benefits and helpfulness that the arrival in Salou of 4G and optical fiber technologies will bring. The representative of Orange is committed to studying the global universe of housing in Salou to further develop and also include these new areas that the councilor requested during the meeting.

Projects such as the one in Salou are part of the ambitious plan for the deployment of new generation networks that Orange is carrying out to reach the 16 million real estate units in Spain with its optical fiber network in 2020. They are also trying to complete their 4G deployment and prepare their network for new technologies of the future. The total investment dedicated to this project will reach a total of 4,100 million euros in 2020.
