Inauguration of the new space of Cala Morisca, a prized balcony to the sea

Cala Morisca de Salou, next to Cala Crancs, was always a natural area admired by the Salouenses, but they have not been able to enjoy it until now, since it was always in private hands. Mayor Granados inaugurated this recovered space last Sunday, which becomes part of the Camí de Ronda. Its viewpoint towards the Costa Daurada is one of its main attractions. Adjust and adapt this space has involved an investment of 264,000 euros, without counting the amount of the purchase of the land. It is a space of 9,200 square meters that has a great natural and ecological interest.

Hundreds of neighbors approached last Sunday to the new viewpoint of Cala Morisca de Salou, where they have been able to see up close the change that this space has suffered until a while ago, in private hands. The mayor Pere Granados, accompanied by several councilors discovered the opening plaque of this reclaimed space that becomes part of the road to Ronda. In his speech he spoke of the effort made by the City Council to buy the first line farms to shape a path that should go forward. "We are making real efforts to recover our coastline and all those land free of construction we have been acquiring, investing more than 5 million euros.It is the best inheritance we can leave to future generations so that we can preserve our coastline", pointed out .

In addition, the mayor has been hopeful that with the new government of the State will be put on the table the need for the end of the stretch that is still pending execution; from Replanells to Punta Dorada to El Racó. "We hope that the new government will be more sensitive in environmental and landscape matters and especially towards our house and in the end invest in the part that is still pending".

With the intervention of recovery and regeneration of this area, the government of Salou has turned a private space into a public space in a unique environment for the views, the landscape and the vegetation next to the sea, with spectacular rockers. In addition, this area, located on the hill next to Cala Crancs where the well-known Pedrol Rius villa was, becomes a privileged corner that is incorporated into the path of Ronda that borders this steepest part of the coastline of our municipality. now little known.

The Town Hall of Salou bought at the end of 2016 the farm that included a villa in a dilapidated condition and demolished it to make way for a new space that has been taking shape with the various works that have been carried out; from the clearing and cleaning of the area; the removal of plants in poor condition and invasive, the replanting of native vegetation-up to 7,000 units of plants-and landscape adaptation and renaturation of the farm with species native to the coastal maquis; and other works such as the preparation of the land, installation of a handrail in the area of ​​the lookout, and a slight urban adaptation so that the farm is integrated and forming part of the walkway.
